Frequently asked questions

Q

Is Your Training Specific to YMCAs?

We have developed a course library designed specifically for YMCAs and that meets Y standards. Our Y courses were developed with one of the top YMCA risk management consultants in the country. Our library addresses the key risk areas including youth protection, OSHA compliance, aquatics safety, harassment and discrimination, and other Y safety areas.

We have also developed a similar library for other health and human service organizations, including non-YMCA youth serving organizations, schools, aid and relief programs, and religious nonprofits.  Visit www.training-hhs.com to learn more.
Q

Do you add new courses?

We are regularly adding new courses or revising current courses to ensure they meet changing legal requirements and best practices for YMCAs.  We typically roll-out a new or revised course every quarter or trimester.

Q

How long are your courses?

Each course typically runs between 12 and 35 minutes.

Q

Can we create our own courses?

We would be happy to share with you ways you can develop your own custom courses, using the same authoring tools we use.  You can then use our learning management system (LMS) to deliver both our courses and the ones you create in-house specific to your organization.

Q

Can you work with us to create custom courses?

Yes.  Give us a call to discuss your course project!  We really enjoy creating courses.

Q

Can we use your system to distribute documents and staff handbooks?

Yes.  Not only can you distribute any document, but you can control who accesses which document and require that they “sign off” that they received the document and understand its contents.

Q

How do our staff access online courses?

Each staff person receives a unique login and can access assigned courses using a browser and internet connection.  That’s it!

Q

Do your courses have quizzes?

Yes, every course using quizzes, typically throughout the course, which must be completed and passed to obtain credit for the course.

Q

Does your training system allow a learner to print out a completion certificate?

Yes.  Of course the beauty of a good online system is that the learner does not need to print a certificate because the system tracks completion.  However, some organizations like to have completion certificates in the employee’s file, in addition to in a report.  Certificates are great for this.

Q

How does reporting work?

Managers can access reports to any time to see who has and has not completed assigned courses.  You can also easily set the system to send out reports at whatever interval you wish (for example every Monday at 8 AM) to whoever you wish. Typically a YMCA with multiple branches will want each branch director to receive a report tracking training status for their own branch employees.  You could also, for example, have an aquatics director receive a report for all lifeguards at all branches.  We will work with you up front to set-up reports that make the most sense for your Y.

Q

Can you track compliance of our face-to-face trainings?

Yes.  We can set up courses in our LMS that you conduct in person with your Y staff.   If, for example, you conduct a new employee orientation in person training, simply take attendance and then enter the attendees into the system who were at the course.  Now you have a training system that tracks ALL of your training compliance, both on-line and in person.  No more spreadsheets, double data entry, or reports from multiple systems.
Q

Can your LMS sync with our HR system?

Yes.  We have several options to automatically transfer employee info from your HR system to our LMS so that your HR person does not have to enter employee data into multiple systems.

Q

How much does it cost?

We charge an annual license fee for each employee.  This license fee gives the employee access to all our courses and documents.  The fee typically ranges from $11-$14.  There is also a one-time set-up fee.  See our pricing page for details.

Q

How long does it take to get up and running?

We find that a successful implementation requires some planning and forethought. Typically we like to take 2-3 weeks, which provides time to think through your training program, review our courses, import user data, assign courses, and do a test run before an organization-wide roll-out.  This said, we have rolled out new training in as little as 5 hours!  We’ll do our best to work with you to get up and running.
